Friday morning -- I'm in ROSWELL!

Long day of travelling yesterday. Two planes, then four hours in a little tin can rental car through the desert. When i stepped out into the rental car parking lot, the attendant asked me if the heat was getting to me. "No..." I said, taking a deep breath of the clean desert air, "no, actually it feels really good!" He laughed and said, "Where are you from?" "North Carolina. We get heat like this, but with 100% humidity."

It is very strange to roll into this city alone and pod-less. I really miss Spacepod and desperately wish he were here. But I'm still very, very glad to be here.

It feels strange to be kind of stealthy in the hotel. Spacepod is my calling card... a lot of people know him, and would know I was here if they saw him. Last night I put one of my little All Pods business cards on my hotel room door. Guess I feel the need to announce my presence in some way. Kristine Barraco wrote to me and said, "Now you will have an appreciation of what it means to be a fly-in." Very true.

Last night in the parking lot I met Lisa Herr, owner of Dayz Bug, plus the other folks from Wisconson that joined her, the owners of a Snap Orange named Sunkist, Jean and Marshall. Also, the owners of a red 2002. (I didn't get their names-- but will try to later!)

Just now I peeked out my window and saw David Allen chatting with Jenni. Steph called and said they are about 3 1/2 to 4 hours out. The connection was really bad-- in fact i'm amazed they had a connection at all-- so we didn't get to have a very good conversation, but if that's true they'll be rolling in to town quite early.

Well... got a lot to do today. Better get on with it.

Lisa,
I have just recently had the time to view your site and all the wonderful pictures that you have taken. This looks like lots of work. You did a great job! Now I can relive my memories of Roswell and all the fun people I met and great cars that I saw. Hope to see you all next year if not sooner. Have a great summer.

Thanx for altering the caravan's route to stop for lunch in the DFW area. You were a little later than anticipated but the wait was worth it. We enjoyed travelling on to Roswell with you guys. Russ did a very comendable job with his radio work throughout the caravan by keeping just in front of an obstacle (read as 18-wheeler) and letting the following pods know when the way was clear on those long and gravely west Texas 2 lane roads.

Thanx again for a good time. And thanx to John for a great job of leading the pack...

Lisa!! I'm so sorry for all the troubles you've had to deal with but I'm so glad you made it to Roswell! Did you find your inverter? We looked everywhere & we don't have it, so I hope you found it!

The first meeting of TRACK, Triangle Regional Art Car Klub, is tomorrow. Wish you could be there but I think you'll be having more fun where you are! love, Sarah
