Craig sent me this today. I'm jealous.
Platinum grey. So I saw David Byrne tonight (those who know him or Talking Heads will appreciate that i guess), which was quite an intense experience-- one of the best rock shows i've been to in a long time-- and so full of high spirits and intensity, in a car full of girls, on the way home i drove past the vw dealership and told everyone i was on the lookout for a dark grey bug-- didn't expect to see one, though... but there it was, sitting by itself, near the showroom, we all screamed when we saw it and said, "Oh my GOD!" (as excited girls fresh from a rock show will do). we all agreed it was a damn cool color. i'll go back this weekend armed with a camera, catch it in daylight and make my final asessment. so then my friend mary says, "Oh, you should trade in the Spacepod!" (mind you-- we were IN the spacepod!) and we had to have a conversation about how you don't say things like that within earshot of the CAR, now... and how i never could do that, anyway, because he's, you know, the SPACEPOD, and i waited six months for him and i'm just too attached. but one day, he may change colors. that would be ok. and then the third person in the car, Molly, who had declared the SP her "dream car" at the beginning of the evening, described her ideal bug: royal blue hood with big white stars, red on the top with a gold WW... like WONDER WOMAN! How cool would that be!
So anyway. I saw a Platinum Grey. And then the next day, I posted this... I had spotted a platinum gray at my local dealership on wednesday night, went back thursday evening and got a good look at it under streetlamps, but didn't have my camera with me. Went back today to get pics and... poof! It was gone. Oh well. My impressions? Damn cool color. If I were in the market for a new NB this year, it would have to be this color. However, when I started thinking about whether I'd want to re-paint SP this color, I decided that there's something missing-- some dimension I am looking for. It's really hard to put my finger on what. Maybe what I'm looking for is a monochrome color-changer-- something that changes from black to a couple of shades of silver. I've never seen paint like that, though. I had another idea that would get a similar effect, a custom paint job that is all monochrome. I think that could be really mind-bending.
Ah well, all stuff to dream about as I certainly don't have the money for that sort of thing now! So, that's why there are no pictures for this entry. |
