at one point, heather said that she wanted to try and broadcast the hitchhikers' guide radio show tapes over FRS during the caravan. i am hoping she does follow through with that plan. and those books will probably come with me during the trip. they seem like very appropriate reading.

while driving through downtown durham today, i had to pull over onto a side street to get a closer look at a beetle (the classic, aircooled variety) that had been painted the most gorgeous metallic/iridescent silvery lavendar color. sadly i did not have my camera with me, but lesson learnt-- the camera goes with me everywhere now. as i was getting back into spacepod, a van pulled up behind me and the guy in the van said, "do you like that volkswagen?" i said "yeah!!" and that seemed to be the end of the exchange.
